Hybrid races in the Netherlands

HYROX is the same everywhere: a 1 km run, then a workout station, eight times over. ATHX, at RAI Amsterdam, is one continuous session of about two and a half hours, from strength to a final MetCon X. STYREKX, powered by Strong Viking, combines ten runs of 800 m or 400 m with ten workout stations. Gymrace, from the makers of Mud Masters, races in Utrecht and Amsterdam: gym stations such as the sled push sit between 1 km runs, and you can race solo, with a buddy or in a relay team. At Hybride Battle in Venlo, you run outdoors and do the exercises inside The Stage, a former flower auction. TYRUN, based in Belgium, brings a brand-new workout each season.

Eurostar runs direct between London St Pancras, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. From Amsterdam Centraal, metro 52 reaches Europaplein, right in front of RAI Amsterdam, in about six minutes; Amsterdam RAI train station is about 300 m away. HYROX's Rotterdam race is at Ahoy: take the metro towards Zuidplein, then walk about five minutes. In Utrecht, follow the signs for Jaarbeursplein from Utrecht Centraal; Jaarbeurs is a short walk.

Expo Greater Amsterdam, where STYREKX and TYRUN race, is in Vijfhuizen near Schiphol. From the airport, bus 300 towards Haarlem stops at Expo Haarlemmermeer, about 100 m from the venue. STYREKX also races at Evenementenhal Gorinchem and Brabanthallen in Den Bosch. HYROX makes you bring ID to check in, and nobody else can check in for you. Going home, Eurostar check-in and passport control happen at the station in Amsterdam or Rotterdam before you board, so leave time for them.
