Racing in Scotland
Glasgow's Scottish Event Campus (SEC), on the banks of the River Clyde, hosts HYROX, ATHX and The Hybrid Games. HYROX alternates eight 1 km runs with eight workout stations. ATHX runs as one continuous 2.5-hour competition through six zones, and The Hybrid Games pairs ten 600 m runs with ten stations before a 200 m sprint finish. The SEC has its own railway station, Exhibition Centre, linked to the campus by a covered walkway. Trains run about every ten minutes from Platform 17 (low level) at Glasgow Central and take three minutes.
Wild Hybrid takes racing outdoors in Glasgow's Pollok Country Park, on a mix of paths, trails and woodland: five 1 km trail runs and five workout stations, taken in turn, then a closing 5 km trail run. Trains from Glasgow Central reach Pollokshaws West in about ten minutes, and the nearest park entrance, on Pollokshaws Road, is less than five minutes' walk away. In Edinburgh, Deadly Dozen brings its track race to Meadowbank Sports Centre: twelve 400 m runs with an exercise station after each one.
MacTuffX, run from Glenrothes, needs an outdoor athletics track with an infield: competitors do ten exercises on the infield and run 400 m between each one, or 800 m on the 2X option. In Glasgow it uses the track at Glasgow Club Crownpoint, less than two miles east of the city centre, and in Edinburgh the Saughton Sports Complex on Stevenson Drive. It also races at Aberdeen Sports Village (two miles from Aberdeen station), Riverside Sports Arena in Ayr, the Ronnie MacIntosh Athletic Stadium in Dundee, Xcite Craigswood in Livingston and the Ayrshire Athletics Arena in Kilmarnock. Outdoors, the track and park races run from spring into autumn. Indoors, the SEC's races are spread through the year.
